Health Insurance

Coverage is available through Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and includes medical, dental, vision, and prescription benefits. Anthem also offers the Employee Assistance program for mental health and counseling services.


Administered by the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). The County also participates in the Law Enforcement/Firefighter Retirement Program (LEO), which is also administered by VRS.

457 Deferred Compensation Program

Supplemental retirement program for full-time employees that allows employees to defer a portion of their salary on a pre-tax basis (federal and state tax-free). The plan administrator offers various investment options.

 Life Insurance

Administered by the Virginia Retirement System with coverage provided by Minnesota Life. Optional life insurance with additional group life insurance coverage is also available to employees and their dependents.

Leave Benefits

Annual leave is accrued based on years of service. Sick leave is accrued at 8 hours per month.

Holiday Leave

King George County follows the state holiday schedule with additional holidays as authorized by the Governor.

Credit Union Affiliation

Employees and their families are eligible to join the Virginia Credit Union.

Coverage at no cost to employees for injury or illness arising out of and in the course of employment.

AFLAC and Colonial Life and Accident Insurance Company both offer various disability, hospital, cancer, and other insurance products through payroll deduction.
