The Rappahannock Area Health District is an extension of the Virginia Department of Health, serving the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, Stafford & the City of Fredericksburg. The district's mission is to protect the community and the environment through disease prevention, lasting community partnerships, access to quality services & the promotion of healthy behaviors.
Our mission is to serve the citizens of King George County and the Commonwealth by being uniform in our practices for all elections; to provide easy access to registration and casting of votes within election laws and guidelines.
Social services is a state supervised, locally administered department governed by a local administrative board comprised of members appointed by the board of supervisors. Social services provides a wide range of local, state and federal services, including protective services for adults and children, permanency placement through foster, adoption and resources, general assistance with finances, Medicaid, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance (SNAP), self-sufficiency through Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Virginia Initiative for Education & Work (VIEW) programs, energy assistance and child care.
Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) is a state program partnered between Virginia’s two land grant universities—Virginia Tech and Virginia State University. VCE operates out of 107 offices, 11 Agricultural Research and Extension centers, and six 4-H centers across the commonwealth, assisting farmers, empowering youth, guiding responsible resource management, and advancing the wellbeing of all Virginians. VCE utilizes the knowledge and resources of the universities to find real solutions to community challenges.
