Community development administers, maintains, and enforces federal, state, and local zoning laws, regulations, and ordinances. The department also facilitates the residential, commercial, and industrial development process in King George County to ensure and protect the health, safety, and welfare of residents.
Economic development encourages industrial, commercial and destination development in King George County through marketing, networking, and business outreach, retention and expansion.
Engineering provides professional engineering, construction administration, and inspection services to King George County and the King George County Service Authority.
Finance and procurement partners with county administration and departments to recommend the best use of public resources to achieve board of supervisors goals by providing estimates, projections and actuals, as well as performing long-range financial forecasting and evaluating capital needs.
Fire and rescue coordinates emergency response throughout the county. Functions include advanced life support, basic life support, emergency and disaster planning, fire prevention, fire suppression, hazardous materials mitigation, public education, vehicle rescue, and water rescue.

Functions include providing recruitment, hiring and other human capital management support. This includes hiring the agency’s workforce, managing benefit plans and providing professional development opportunities.
Information technology provides software and hardware technological support for county departments and constitutional offices.
Functions include design and implementation of new enterprise clients, cloud/server and personal computer application systems; maintenance of existing application systems; ensuring cybersecurity measures are met; support for voice and data telecommunications; customer training for application systems and office automation; and ensuring the reliable backup of data is prioritized.
Parks and recreation promotes a sense of community by providing entertainment opportunities through diverse and balanced recreation programming for all ages and facilities that incorporate residents' needs, interests, and desires.
Solid waste and recycling offers trash disposal and recycling at two county convenience centers and the Sealston landfill. Convenience centers are only available to county residents and property owners. Non-residents and commercial users may pay to dispose of waste at the Sealston landfill, and the weight of the material will determine the fee.
